KIRINIRIK is the ghost of a GIRAFARIG who was poorly treated by its master. It is seen rarely and is considered an ill omen to those who do manage to catch a glimpse of it.

Legend has it that in the 12th century, Johto was ruled by an extremely wealthy emperor who lived in his enormous brass palace, the old Bell Tower in Ecruteak city.

This emperor was the son of the previous emperor, a kindhearted old man who left behind nearly a century of prosperity for his country. When he passed away, he willed his power to his beloved son.

Among the various servants and attendants betrothed to him was his father's only Pokemon, a trusty Girafarig who had for years begun to show signs of his age.

After the emperor's son gained control of his father's estate, he, unlike his father, used his reign to fuel his own greed. He siphoned Johto's funds to his own estate, placed numerous heavy taxes on his people, and sat idly by picking his thumbs as the worst tsunami in years struck the coast, completely destroying the newborn city of Olivine. Day after day, he barked orders to his servants to erect golden statues of his likeness, bathe his feet, prepare exotic feasts, and other extravagant tasks.

The Girafarig of his father sat by and watched his new master's rule of terror. Each time he tried to bond with the new emperor, he shoved him aside, sometimes even violently so, calling him "useless" due to his age and the infirmities that came with it. However, the Girafarig kept returning to his master...for he was his master after all, and he would remain loyal to him no matter how badly he was treated.

Then, on the eve of the emperor's birthday banquet, Girafarig accidentally tripped at the foot of the emperor's throne, knocking over and shattering the sculpture that had been specially prepared for the night's event. The emperor was so furious with the Pokemon that he ordered him to be disposed of immediately.

His servants submitted to the orders, and that night would be known as Girafarig's last.

The people of Ecruteak say that the Girafarig now roams Johto as a ghost. Due to his poor treatment, his form has altered him into what witnesses have said is a corrupt form of a Girafarig. These witnesses also believe that they have been eternally cursed by even catching sight of the creature, always seeming to have bad things happen to them.

What does KIRINIRIK want? Revenge?
